tour itinerary

day 1 :arriving

arriving to the Tripoli airport and be warmly wellcomed by your local

guide and then transfer to your hotel in Tripoli ,The remainder of the day is free to explore on your own before meeting with the group for dinner and our orientation meeting. Tripoli overnight stay

day 2 :Tripoli

start sight seeing tour of Tripoli (Oea)the capital of Libya founded by Phoenicians 1000 B.C .and later conquerd by Romans ,our tour including the national museum , the old Souq ,Arch of Marcus Aurelius and the Islamic quarters.

day 3 :Sabratha

morning driving to the extensive ruins of Roman city of Sabratha.located 70 K.M west of Tripoli on the coast.first settled by the Phoenicians as trading post 600 B.C and then Rome in 46 B.C the site offers a majestic collection of public buildings Arenas ,the temples of Liber peter srapis , Isis and Hercules and more during the journy you will have the lunch there and in early evening drive back to Tripoli

day 4 :leptis magana

morning departure to the the magnificent Roman city of Leptis Magna with its Theatre, Baths, Temples, Forum, Basilica, Nymphaeum and Amphitheatre. regarded as the best Roman site in the mediterranean ,located on the coast east of Tripoli 120 K.M the city was born as a Phoenician port .it joined Rome in 111B.C during the journy you will have the lunch there and in early evening go Zliten or Misrata and have a dinner overnight in hotel

day 5 : Ghirza ,Gharyan

fter the breakfast in the hotel will drive to Ghirza is located about 300 K.M south east of Tripoli in semi desert erea.the ruins of Ghirza are considered archaeologically important as they are built to a local pattern yet influenced by architectural styles prevailing at the end of the Hellenic era.after that we will drive to Baniwalid to have a dinner overnight in the hotel

day 6 : Kabow, Yfren ,Qasr al-Haj

in the morning we will drive through the Nafusa mountain, stopping along the way at Ghrayan,Yfren Kabow , and visiting Qasr al-Haj the Berber castle where Berbers used to store their grain and oil ,we visit one of the famous Berber built underground houses at Jadu. It is also famous for its pottery.after the dinner in local restaurant drive back to Tripoli overnight in the hotel.

day 7: Nalut, Ghadames

in the morning drive to Nalut fortified grain stores which located in west of Jebel Nofusa mountain the Barbar ancient city after the lunch will drive to Ghadames the pearl of desert Ghadames beautiful oasis, 7th century ruins.We also spend some time in the museum that houses artifacts from the Roman period and items from Ghadames past. .after dinner ,overnight in hotel

day 8 : Ghadames , tripoli

The oasis city of Ghadames is known as “The Jewel of the Sahara” and the old city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We go on a walking tour of one of the best preserved and largest of Libya’s old cities. Entering from the main gate of Bab al-Burr, we wander into the heart of the old city, passing through Jarasan Square, Tingazin Square, Intelewan Square and Ghazar Square before arriving into the main square. We visit the Atik Mosque, the oldest in Ghadames built in 666 AD,before continuing our exploration to Ain al-Faras (Well of the Mare or House Fountain). Late afternoon, we board 4x4 vehicles to travel out to Ras al-Ghoul (Mountain of Ghosts). There is an ancient fort here that is said to be haunted by the ghosts of Islamic soldiers who died here during a siege of the fort in 668 AD. From Ras al-Ghoul we can see Algeria and Tunisia. Ras al-Ghoul is also legendary for views of incredibly beautiful sunsets. Before we return to Ghadames, we are treated to a Tuareg cultural show of singing and dancing in the sand dunes. We return to Tripoli overnight .and the day after get ready to departure
